Table for One is my solo exhibition featuring a series of ink drawings on paper documenting fleeting moments of life as they happened between January 2025 and January 2026. These silent observations of people, spaces, and gestures in real time reflect a balance between stillness and motion. Creating the art was a way to practice presence while seeking connection in a world that often feels distant.

While navigating a search for companionship across the country, I returned to my art as the only constant. No matter where I was, sketching became a form of grounding for me. It was a way to witness, to stay present, to give myself the love I wanted. Even as I occasionally revisited dating apps, I found that these attempts were largely distractions and escapism. The true inspiration and comfort came from the drawings themselves.

Through this work, I explore themes of solitude, longing, and indulging in what brought me joy and comfort. The process of creating, observing, and documenting life reminded me that fulfillment could be found in my own presence and filling my own cup (usually with coffee). This experience also helped me recognize what forms love already took in my life, from friendly banter with baristas and bartenders to the unexpected friendships I formed along the way. It taught me that maybe a table for one could be just as fun when you open up to the people around you.
